Spring Cleaning Made Simple: Freshen Up Your Home This Season

As we say goodbye to winter and welcome the first signs of spring, it's the perfect time to refresh our homes. While we might not be ready to tackle the yard just yet, it's a great opportunity to get a jump start on indoor spring cleaning. Over the years, I've found a few simple tricks that make this time of year feel a whole lot easier — and maybe even a little fun!

The 90-Day Clear Out

One of my favorite ways to start is by clearing clutter, and it's so easy to get the kids involved with this one too! Start by grabbing an empty box and pick a space — a closet, a junk drawer, or maybe even that one corner that always seems to gather extra stuff. (The kids might pick their toy box, bedroom, or their own closets.) Spend 10 minutes gathering items you're unsure about — things you don’t think you need but can’t quite bring yourself to let go of yet. Maybe you’ve been thinking about donating — toss it all in the box. Tape it up, write the date packed on the outside, and tuck it away. If that box hasn’t been opened in 90 days, it’s time to let it go — whether that means donating, recycling, or tossing it. It’s a stress-free way to declutter without second-guessing yourself in the moment.

The Forgotten Spaces

Once the clutters under control, I move on to cleaning those forgotten spaces — Think from the top down. Dusting ceiling fans, light fixtures, and the tops of cabinets, making your way to wiping down door jambs, windowsills, and baseboards, instantly brightening things up. Next you might like to give kitchen, and bathroom surfaces some extra love. Cleaning around appliance buttons, knobs, and handles makes everything feel fresh and polished. Scrubbing grout or tile can give these spaces an instant refresh. And an often-forgotten spot: Behind the fridge!  Trust me, there's always a surprising amount of dust back there!

A Breath of Fresh Air

Since we’ve spent all winter bundled up indoors, it’s a great opportunity to refresh the air in the home as well. Changing out your furnace filter is a quick and easy way to improve air quality. Taking a few minutes to change or add vent filters makes a surprising impact too. If it’s an option, having your air ducts professionally cleaned is another great way to feel like you’re breathing fresh air again.

Your Cleaning Partners

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or just want a little extra help, I’m grateful to partner with some amazing local businesses that offer exclusive discounts to my clients. Whether you need a hand with organizing, cleaning, or even refreshing your home’s decor, businesses like Ramona Aline Home-Organize & Design, EDC General Cleaning Service, and Coleen Cleans with Norwex are just a few of the fantastic partners ready to help — and there are so many more!
